New legislation on personal data protection, aligned with European GDPR standards, has come into force. Unanimously approved by the National Council in Monaco on November 28, 2024, this law introduces important measures such as the establishment of the Personal Data Protection Authority (PDPA), the abolition of prior declaration formalities, and the strict control of criminal data. It also strengthens the rights of citizens, especially children, and requires organizations to appoint a data protection officer. Penalties have been significantly increased, with fines of up to 10 million euros.
